Takeaway in Midlands in need of rat repellent
16/11/2009
A restaurant in the Midlands could have avoided having to pay a fine and costs of more than £4,300 by having better rat repellent at the establishment.
The Express & Star reported that Victoria Fast Food, trading as Favorite Chicken & Ribs, was found to have failed to implement adequate pest control measures by Wolverhampton Magistrates.
As well as rat droppings under the counter at the eatery, a dead rodent was also found in the store room.
The inspection of the property was carried out in March 2009 following a complaint about rats in the shop.
Tariq Ali, the owner of the establishment, was interviewed under caution and accepted that rules had not been followed, saying he relied on staff to complete the necessary hygiene tests.
Last week, the Surrey Comet reported that the doors of India Dining in Hinchley Wood were closed after inspectors found evidence of a rat infestation at the property, but that it has reopened since proper rat control measures were put in place.
