Rats plague Buckinghamshire park
02/09/2010
A rat infestation at a park in Buckinghamshire has led to the local council being forced to put up warning signs for locals.
Local residents and other park users are being urged not to leave any bread on the ground after they have been feeding the ducks at Boundary Park Recreation Ground in Loudwater, Buckinghamshire.
Chepping Wycombe Parish Council, which owns the recreation ground, has erected signs all over the area saying, “Please do not leave bread on the ground at the present time as the council is addressing the problem of rats in the park. Thank you for your help.”
The council has admitted that rats have been a problem at the park in the past and are striving to solve the problem as soon as possible.
Chairman Jeff Herschel said, “This happens constantly - we are going to have to start a campaign to say do feed the ducks but please put the bread in the river.”
The park is extremely popular with families and young children from all over the area, so solving the rat problem is crucial, as rats carry diseases that can prove dangerous or even fatal.
