Rat snapped sitting on table at Toronto eatery

25/11/2009

A customer at the Famous BBQ Express in Toronto recently photographed a large rodent sitting on the tables and chairs at the restaurant.

The eatery might be in need of rat repellent in light of the snaps obtained by the Toronto Sun.

Kyle Fisher, who photographed the rodent, commented: "The disease aspect is scary. I don't want to catch anything with everything else going on."

When approached by the newspaper, the Toronto Public Health (TPH) department said the rat's behaviour was "not normal".

The owner of the restaurant said pest control is called in every month and that he believes the creatures could be accessing his premises because the building behind his property is being torn down.

Dan Kartzalis of TPH said there was no evidence of droppings at the restaurant, but added that steps would be taken to find out how the vermin entered the establishment.

This comes after the Express & Star reported that Victoria Fast Food in Wolverhampton was recently ordered to pay a fine after a dead rodent was found in the store room.
