Preston pub reopens after extensive pest control measures

A Preston city centre pub had reopened after carrying out extensive pest control measures, following the discovery of evidence of mice in its premises.
Roper Hall, on Friargate, was closed earlier this week after inspectors from Preston Council’s environmental health board discovered mouse droppings in its kitchen. The pub’s owners immediately carried out an industrial deep clean of the pub and it has now reopened.
Speaking after a second inspection – following the cleaning – health inspector Simon Neighbour said that the owners of the pub, Stonegate Pub Company, voluntarily chose to close the pub down for a few days in order for the cleaning to be completely thorough.
“The kitchen has now re-opened, and I would like to commend the actions of the management,” he told the Lancashire Evening Post. “Their responsible approach resolved the issue quickly and efficiently.”
A Stonegate spokesman said that mice were a common problem in city centres and that keeping them away from premises was challenging for all businesses.
The spokesman said, “We identified that there was evidence of mice activity and we have worked quickly and efficiently with our pest control contractors and environmental health inspectors to eradicate the issue and the kitchen was reopened within a period of a few hours.”
