Pest control problem for LA eatery

12/02/2010

Pest control problems have led to a famous Los Angeles restaurant being shut down.

According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Philippe the Original restaurant suffered a cockroach infestation.

When inspectors discovered the pest problem they closed down the eatery on Wednesday evening (February 10th).

It was noted that the restaurant is perhaps best known for its French dip sandwiches.

The establishment may be allowed to reopen in the next few days if it can prove that it has removed the vermin from the premises.

In similar news, a kitchen in Basildon was found to have pest control problems.

A cockroach infestation led to the Indian Valley Restaurant being closed down and its owner was fined more than £4,000.

Inspectors noted that food ingredients were exposed to the critters and as a freezer was moved on the premises the pests were seen scuttling away.

Restaurant staff were then advised on proper food safety management.
