New infestation TV show hits screens

16/12/2010

People suffering from severe infestations of pests including rats, mice and cockroaches will be the stars of a new television show due to hit screens on 9 January next year.

Darlow Smithson Productions (DSP), which is owned by Big Brother producer Endemol, has been commissioned by an American TV network to make Infested!, a three-part miniseries investigating pest infestations in people's homes.

The new programme will screen on the Animal Planet channel, which is owned by Discovery, from January, and will follow people blighted by rodents, spiders and bedbugs. While it will initially screen in America, it will be available for people in the UK to watch via satellite TV.

Marjorie Kaplan, Animal Planet president and general manager, said, "DSP has done a terrific job on the intense and intimate stories of people who have confronted their mortality out in the wild with I Shouldn't Be Alive.

"We know audiences won't be able to turn away from Infested! because of Darlow's incredible knack for making viewers feel as though they're sharing the nightmares with these accidental victims of nature - this time in the relative safety of their own homes," she added.
