Mice and rats 'out of control' in garden

09/02/2010

Mice and rat control is so bad on a Gloucestershire street that one grandparent is unable to look after his family.

Ivory close in Tuffley is reported to have been infested by the rodents and residents have complained to the Gloucestershire Echo.

Graham Roberts, aged 62, said his 18-month-old grandson can no longer come to stay because of the vermin resulting from the mess in his neighbour's garden.

"My wife went into our food cupboard the other day and found mice in there. They're running riot," he said.

"Some neighbours have even found them running up the net curtains."

Magistrates recently ordered Mr Roberts' neighbour - David Cameron - to tidy up his garden and home but this has reportedly had little effect.

It is thought that Mr Cameron no longer lives in the property.

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham launched a campaign last year to get residents to clear up their gardens.

Named the Eyesore Gardens Campaign, the scheme is still running in the area and aims to promote cleaner streets.
